🏆 Best Use of Technology @ TUH Healthcare Hackathon 2023

Last September, our team—Adrian Donnelly, Joven Sagrado, and I—took part in the #HealthHackathonTUH, hosted by Tallaght University Hospital, TU Dublin, and AWS inCommunities.

Our challenge? Build a solution that makes it easier to report broken equipment, missing staff, and patients—without breaching anyone’s privacy.

Our solution used passive Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) trackers to help hospitals locate things faster and keep operations flowing. It was all about low cost, minimal friction, and complete privacy—nothing with GPS or active surveillance.

The result? We were thrilled to win the "Best Use of Technology" award! 🥇

This was the third edition of TUH’s hackathon series—an amazing initiative where students collaborate with clinicians, cloud engineers, and academics to build solutions in 24 hours. There's just something special about solving real problems with smart people and cold pizza.

We’re excited to return next year with even bolder ideas. Massive thanks to TU Dublin, TUH, and AWS for the platform.
